Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any potential risks in using the Fit Pack System?
Please read our important information page, particularly if your child suffers from any medical conditions. Before starting to use Fit Pack, a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (“PAR-Q”) must be completed for each child.
You show in points 7 and 8 of ‘How To use Your Pack’ the way in which children who are already fit or unfit can use the pack. How can we fast track or slow track children if we need to?
It is possible, because of the way the system is designed, to spend a longer or shorter time on any column. I would only recommend making this adjustment after the child has spent an amount of time using the system. The other option for a very fit child is to increase their use of the pack to three times per week (every other day) but not to change the column before time. For the unfit child, keep them on the same column for more than two weeks at twice per week usage until they feel ready to move on. The Training Log provides full details.
My child is 7½ years old. Does she start the programme from week 1 of level 1, or half way through?
Yes, She should start from week 1 Level 1 in order to gain full benefit from the training.
Why start at age 7 and only go up to age 16?
This age range covers key developmental stages. The Fit Pack training will provide a good base of work upon which the child can build in the years following.
Do the exercises apply equally for boys and girls as they get older and become teenagers?
Fit Pack is designed to provide a base of fitness which can benefit both boys and girls. Children involved in top end performance sports will need to make adjustments based on age and gender. The Fit Pack team can provide advice.
Can these exercises be part of my child’s fitness programme at his/her club, or should they be additional?
Yes. Fit Pack is designed to fit in and complement the work being carried out at club level. Your coach will be able to use the Fit Pack training in and around their session. It can also be used as additional training. The Fit Pack team can provide advice.
Why is the last term of each level 14 weeks long, when the others are 12 weeks long?
If you have followed the work correctly you should be at your fittest in the last term and therefore able to cope with more work for a longer period.
Is there a better time of day to complete the exercises?
You should never exercise before breakfast or straight after meals. Try not to train too late in the evening.
It says to carry out the exercises twice a week, not on consecutive days. How many days apart would you recommend?
Two to three days.
Where has the data for Fit Pack come from?
A Fit Pack has been created using data gathered together over a thirty year period of training young people. This has included fitness testing, programme setting, and being part of a team of internationally recognised experts who have built up testing and assessment strategies for national governing bodies of sport.
What will Fit Pack do with the data we send in?
Fit Pack will securely store all data received. The figures from the test results will be used to generate information on the general fitness levels of 7 to 16 year olds. Names will not be used. This information will be an important resource in helping us all to keep our young people fit and healthy.
Will you be providing any information on nutrition for young sports people?
We hope to be providing guidelines in this area in the future.
Will there be testimonials on the website where parents/guardians can comment on how the programme is working for their child?
We would be happy to receive all feedback from those involved in using Fit Pack. This will help us to improve our training programmes.
How often will new targets be set?
Targets will be set four times per year.
When will we start to see any results?
This will vary from person to person, However, after two terms of regular work you should see a difference.
How soon will I get a reply if I email the Support line?
